first_imgIreland’s fastest driver caught during a major crackdown on speeding was detected in Donegal, Gardai have revealed.During Operation Slowdown –  the 24-hour crackdown on speeding drivers which took place from 7.00am yesterday to 7.00am this morning – 124,818 vehicles were checked throughout the Republic, 974 of which were detected speeding.The highest speed recorded was 147kph in a 80kph on the R238 road at Lisfannon outside Buncrana.
