File photoMinister of Social Services Gloria Shillingford is calling on Dominicans to embrace older persons in the community.Shillingford who was at the time addressing the Annual General Meeting of the Dominica Council on Aging says the protection and well being of older persons is the responsibility of every person in the country as they are a valuable asset.“The senior citizens of this country are a very valuable asset and within them lies our history. With them are wisdom, experience and lessons to be handed down. The well being of older person is the responsibility of all of us since each one of us has an elderly parent…whose love and influence helped shaped our lives,” she said.Shillingford says her Ministry pledges its continued support for the improvement and well being of the elderly.She says thru the “Yes we care” and Centenarian programs, Government has been able to address some of the needs of the elderly, but it is through organizations like the Dominica Council on Aging can the social aspect of their well being be met.Dominica Vibes Newslast_img read more
