TTF Beds sleeping short in Aus cities

Tourism and Transport Forum (TTF) figures on Capital City Accommodation found capital city hotels achieved growing occupancy levels at 80 percent and room rates rising above $168.According to the figures, revenue per available room also rose for the quarter compared to the corresponding quarter last year by up to 8.5 percent.TTF chief executive John Lee said results indicated a “need for new accommodation product in our cities”. “The current tax system does not encourage investment in both new hotel builds and refurbishments, which we think needs to be addressed,” he added.Figures showed that Sydney achieved the highest occupancy in the June quarter this year, followed by Perth.
